Mental
health & wellbeing program for families
The Family Nurturing Centre of
Mosman Park has expanded its Mental Health and Well Being Program to
service families throughout WA. Since 1989 has supported almost 4,000
families. Thatís a lot of experience to bundle up and share!
As part of this program the
centre runs a 12-hour course in Mental Health First Aid through the
University of Melbourne. Trained instructor Sydel Weinstein is proud
to offer the course to WA families.
MHFA is designed to increase
mental health literacy and understanding of the symptoms of mental
illness. This is essential learning ñ early recognition of an
emerging mental health problem can prevent much suffering.
The centre also offers parent
and baby support groups, to improve parenting skills, reduce
isolation, and encourage healthy interaction and attachment, thus
improving the mental health and wellbeing of the family. Other
trainings include the Mindful Parent, a three-hour course that
introduces stress reduction and attachment-enhancing skills.
