Primary school football soars in Term Two

Kids can get an extra kick out of footy with two fantastic primary school programs ready to launch across Western Australia for Term Two. With a focus on maximising participation, enjoyment and skill development, the Eagles Cup Primary School Football Competition and the Eagles Faction Football Competition offer a fun, safe environment in which to learn more about Australian Football.

The Eagles Cup is specially designed for Year Six and Seven primary school students. It is played under modified AFL junior football competition rules and caters for boys and girls.

An ëintra-houseí competition, Eagles Faction Football is designed to encourage active participation in sport among both male and female students from Years Four to Seven.

Former West Coast Eagles midfielder Rowan Jones helped launch the program in April. Special guests from Eaton Primary School from the Stateís South West made a special journey for the launch to meet Jones and witness a West Coast training session at Subiaco Oval.

The West Australian Football Commission works closely with its Primary Schools Football Advisory Council to co-ordinate the competitions, finding a balance between participation, skill development and fun. Both programs are run throughout primary schools across the length and breadth of the State during term two and three, split over the nine metropolitan WAFL districts and eight regional zones.
