New animal adventures at RSPCA

RSPCA is introducing some new activities to kick off the New Year in the January school holidays. The sessions commence on January 5, once Christmas is over and kids start looking for something to do.

New for the littlies are Purr-fect Paws and Waggy Tails, which introduce 4-6 year olds to caring for cats and dogs, as well as some creature-related craft and tales.

Fresh attractions for the bigger kids are Twisted Creations, an exclusive session with a balloon artist, and Radical Reptiles, where theyíll get up close with a range of scaly creatures from geckos to snakes and even frogs!

RSPCA has increased the age range too for the summer holidays, with activities designed to suit children aged from 4-15.

One thing hasnít changed: all sessions involve animal interaction, often including a tour of the dog kennels and cattery, and are good value for money from $15-$20.

Bookings open on December 12 and are essential on 9209 9325 or visit www.rspcawa.asn.au for more information.

Wild About Animals, a joint session with Perth Zoo and RSPCA, is also back these holidays. To register your child one of these popular sessions, call the Zoo on 9474 0365.

MercyCare Fostering Services are recruiting foster carers

MercyCare Fostering Services provides foster care placements in the community to children aged 0ñ18 years. Our Foster Carerís provide a stable family environment to children whom cannot live with their biological families.

The Carers become the nurturers, supporters and primary facilitators of development for their child and offer a family base, guidance, love, flexibility to respond to their childís needs, advocacy and foundations for strong healthy relationships. Marcyís carers become part of the dedicated support team that works towards providing the best care and opportunities to children.

There has been an increase in the number of children requiring Foster Care and in 2010ñ2011. Over 3500 children were in care in WA as reported by DCP. The majority of these children were under 10 years of age.

Foster Carers are ordinary people making extraordinary differences to children and young people in care. Foster Care recruitment, assessment and training is a comprehensive process of about 4 months, in which time you will have opportunities of developing your knowledge, skills and strategies of child development and parenting.

We welcome you to join MercyCare Fostering Services. Please call 9442 3444 or email fosteringservices@mercycare.com.au for more information.

When did you last speak to your mortgage broker?

Itís important to keep an eye on your home loan to ensure that you have the most competitive deal in the market.  Since the Federal Government banned exit fees on mortgages from 1 July 2011, not only has it increased competition between the banks, but itís also given consumers more flexibility in shopping around for better options.

As we all want the best for our children, consistently reviewing your financial situation is fundamental to ensuring a successful outcome.  Itís crucial that you make the decision to take control of your finances as it may end up costing you and your family thousands of dollars over the term of your loan.

If you havenít reviewed your home loan or your personal insurance plan for some time, take advantage of a complimentary financial health check from an MFAA Approved Broker and Financial Adviser. Call Craig today on 0439 973 459 or email craig@worlwidegroup.com.au
